Our new Australian correspondent and partner Colin Sarantis of Ibiza Publicity conducts an insightful interview this month with Chris Glebatsas, the first Aussie model to have an interview featured in our 2BExposed – Australia magazine. We hope you enjoy this informative article, as you will discover there’s a lot more to this Aussie hottie than many may first think.
2B: WHAT ARE YOUR RESOLUTION AND GOALS FOR 2017?
A: I personally don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions, as once I realize there is something I need to change, why put off until tomorrow what I can do today. I’m always looking at new goals, whether they are personal or professional and as soon as I achieve one, I’m onto the next one. My long term BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) is to improve my work/life balance. That is in terms of my fitness, my business, and my family life – to be honest, everything is always a work in progress as it’s something that continually changes depending on how far the pendulum swings in one direction. It is the ultimate balancing act. Having said that, in the last 7 years, I’ve found a life partner, started a business, co-parented a daughter and adopted a dog, so true balance still remains the elusive goal.
2B: WHO WAS YOUR EARLY INFLUENCE IN FITNESS?
A: Like a lot of guys growing up in my generation, Jean-Claude Van Damme was really the first actor to be famous for his physique, as much as for his martial arts skills. I remember the first time I saw him in a movie and thinking, I’d like to look like that one day. As a young fat kid, he made me want to get in shape.
2B: FAVORITE PARTY DESTINATION IN THE WORLD?
A: I have a lot of favorite destinations that I love to travel to, however when it comes to the best party I’ve ever been to, I would have to say Barcelona during Circuit Festival beats them all hands down! Having said that, I haven’t yet been to Tel Aviv, but I’ve heard it’s amazing, so that’s definitely on my hit list for the future.
2B: BEST EVENT YOU ATTENDED LAST YEAR?
A: Last year we attended “Best In Drag Show” in Los Angeles, and I have to say, this is the second year in a row I’ve now attended, and it’s become one of my favorite nights of the year. Not only is it an amazing show, but it raises so much money on the night which goes to support aid for AIDS.
2B: MOST EMBARRASSING PARTY MOMENT?
A: Having had a little too much to drink on an Atlantis cruise White Party, I was surprised the next day to have so many people tell me they loved my “GoGo dance” routine around the outdoor Spa on the dance floor the previous night. Unfortunately, I really can’t dance, so let’s just say I’m still waiting for the video to pop up one day in my newsfeed.
2B: YOUR IDEA OF A GREAT ROMANTIC DATE?
A: Having been with my partner for over 7 years, we’ve had some amazingly romantic dinners in some of the most romantic cities and setting across the globe, but nothing beats a night at home on the couch with a bowl of chips, a glass of red wine, our dog at our feet and the open fire burning in the background
2B: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CUISINE?
A: Being half Greek, that’s an easy one – I’ve grown up in a traditional Greek family environment where you just keep feeding everyone until they can’t eat any more food – it probably accounts for why I was an overweight teenager!
2B: WHAT COULDN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?
A: Clearly my partner Anthony, our daughter Grace and our dog Spartacus – pretty much everything else is replaceable.
2B: WHO WOULD YOU WANT TO SPEND A DAY WITH ( LIVING OR NOT), AND WHY?
A: That’s a tough question, as there are so many amazingly talented people who’ve done so much to influence the world and bring us to where we are today. In terms of his ability to see the big picture of design and technology and build a brand that people love, I’d have to say… Steve Jobs, because of the work he did with Apple. Now that would be a day well spent.
2B: IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING IN THE WORLD WHAT WOULD IT BE?
A: I’d change people’s empathy levels. Jeremy Rifkin, the author of The Empathic Civilization, notes that “Empathy conjures up active engagement — the willingness of an observer to become part of another’s experience, to share the feeling of that experience.” If everyone had a little more empathy for others, and less focus on themselves, then humanity overall would be much more tolerant and peaceful. Never before has empathy been so important. We live in an unprecedented era of accelerated and unpredictable change. I completely agree with Rifkin that “the empathic evolution of the human race and the profound ways it has shaped our development… will likely decide our fate as a species.” That and getting rid of Trump of course!
2B: FINALLY: WHAT DO YOU KNOW FOR SURE?
A: What I know for sure is there is so much I don’t know! I remember when I was young I thought I knew everything, but the older I get (and hopefully the wiser), I’m continually learning that what I knew to be true growing up isn’t necessarily so. Beliefs are rarely based on facts – and even facts can change over time, so I guess there’s not a lot I really know for sure!
